Green asparagus salad – with or without gin

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 1 bunch of green asparagus
  • 1 small shallot(s)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 small jar of gin (shot glass) and/or 1 shot of white balsamic vinegar
  • 1 pinch of vanilla powder
  • 2 pinches of pepper, freshly ground
  • n. B. Salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

ideal for grilling, quick to make and not just for asparagus lovers

Wash the asparagus and drain gently. Trim off the woody end and cut the rest into bite-sized pieces. Peel the shallot and finely dice. Heat the oil and sugar in a pan. When the sugar begins to melt, add the shallot and the still-moist asparagus pieces. Briefly toss and fry. Add the vanilla powder and deglaze with the gin and/or a dash of balsamic vinegar. Sauté for a few minutes until the liquid has almost evaporated. Add coarsely ground pepper and season with salt. Best served lukewarm.
