Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes
without bottled sauces
For the filling, peel and finely chop the onion and fry briefly and quickly with the minced meat in a little oil. Allow to cool slightly, season with salt, pepper, and paprika, then mix with the egg, chives, breadcrumbs, and 2 tablespoons of cream cheese. Place the filling on the ham slices, roll them up, and place in a baking dish. For the sauce, melt the butter in a small saucepan, stir in the flour, and deglaze with the milk. Continue stirring until the sauce thickens slightly (add a little more milk if necessary), then turn off the heat. Season generously with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Stir in the remaining 2 tablespoons of cream cheese and 50g of grated cheese, season to taste, and spoon the sauce onto the ham rolls. Sprinkle with the remaining cheese and bake at 180°C for about 30 minutes. Serve with potato or pumpkin fritters, potato wedges, or simply with a baguette and salad.
