Ingredients for 2 servings:
- 200 g tartar
- 1 egg(s)
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 shallot(s), finely chopped
- 2 slices of bread (wholemeal bread, brown bread)
- 20 g butter
- 2 tsp capers
- 2 tsp caviar (real or lumpfish roe)
- 2 gherkins (cornichons), finely diced
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes
Beefsteak tartar on wholemeal bread
Mix the tartar with the egg, shallot, chopped capers, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Spread a thin layer of butter on whole-grain bread and top with the tartar. Then add the caviar* or chopped gherkins and, if desired, a few capers. * With 20 grams of original Osietr caviar, this dish has been served as a classic “Jahreszeiten Schlemmerschnitte” (Seasonal Gourmet Slice) in a traditional Hamburg hotel for many decades.
