Hamburger with onion – special sauce

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 vegetable onion(s)
  • 4 rolls (hamburger buns)
  • 4 meatballs (hamburger patties)
  • 1 small salad (lettuce)
  • 2 small tomatoes
  • 4 slices of cheese
  • 1 bottle of beer (e.g. Licher X² Colabier or similar)
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 4 tbsp ketchup, hot (e.g. Hela spice ketchup)
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • possibly bacon, crispy fried
  • possibly fried onions

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

First, prepare the hamburgers as usual. Fry the patties, briefly bake the buns, and spread them with mayonnaise. Wash the lettuce and set aside large leaves, then slice the tomatoes. For the sauce, slice the onion and sauté in a little oil until translucent and golden brown. Then deglaze with the beer and reduce until half the beer has reduced. Then add the tomato paste and ketchup and bring the mixture back to a boil or reduce it again. The sauce should have a thick consistency. Top the burgers with the ingredients as desired and pour the sauce on top. Crispy bacon or ready-made fried onions are also excellent. You can also swap the beer type for a different flavor – Krefelder (dark beer + cola) creates a smokier note.
