Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 4 slices of cheese (hand cheese)
  • 1 small onion(s)
  • Vinegar
  • oil
  • Condensed milk or water
  • salt and pepper
  • possibly caraway

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 10 minutes

Recipe from my father – Frankfurt specialty

Cut the Handkäse into cubes approximately 1 x 1 cm thick and place in a bowl. Finely chop the onion and add it to the cheese. Make a salad dressing with vinegar, oil, pepper, salt, and milk (or water) and mix it into the Handkäse (if you like, you can add caraway seeds). Let it sit in a cool place for at least 2 hours. I like to serve it with freshly baked bread. And, of course, an Äppler (apple) to drink.
