Handmade Pretzel Sticks

  • 500 g Sifted flour
  • 75 g Butter
  • 75 g Margarine
  • 20 g Dry Germ
  • 15 g Salt
  • 0,125 liter Milk
  • 1 tsp Granulated sugar
  • Pepper from the grinder
  • Freshly grated nutmeg
  • Ground caraway
  • Chilli powder
  • Some butter to spread
  • Salt and caraway seeds whole
  1. Mix all dry ingredients together in a yeast bowl. Warm milk, butter and margarine on the stove to lukewarm. The butter and margarine must be completely dissolved. Then pour it into the dry ingredients, quickly work it into a smooth dough and knead it until it bubbles up and the surface has a silky sheen.
  2. Then cover with a damp cloth and let rise for 40 minutes. Divide the dough into four equal parts and shape into balls, let them rise again for 20 minutes. Roll out on the floured work surface and cut into 8 triangles of equal size. Spread thinly with butter and shape into pretzel sticks. Brush with a little water and sprinkle with salt and caraway seeds.
  3. Bake in an oven preheated to 210 ° C for 15 minutes.
