also very tasty with beans
The amount of ingredients depends on the size of the pan. All ingredients should be sized so that they form a single layer across the entire pan. The quantities given are equivalent to a 28 cm pan. Roughly dice the bacon, slice the sausage, and fry both. It’s okay if they get a little darker and even brown a little, as the water will dissolve the brown layer, but this is what carries the flavor. When the bacon and sausage have reached the desired color, cover this layer with water. Add the Brussels sprouts in another layer. Then slice the potatoes and place them on top. If you like, you can spread a generous amount of savory over the potatoes. Cover the pan and simmer for about 20 minutes. Check the water level and the potatoes’ doneness occasionally. The water should steam the Brussels sprouts and potatoes until tender, but ideally it should be completely cooked through. The dish also tastes great if you replace the Brussels sprouts with beans. They can be frozen; canned beans will be too mushy.
