Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g wheat flour, type 1050
  • 30 g yeast
  • 1 pinch(s) of sugar
  • ¼ liter milk, lukewarm
  • 1 tsp herbal salt
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds, ground
  • 80 g butter, soft
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 3 tbsp onion(s), roasted
  • 3 tbsp parsley (dried or fresh)
  • 1 egg yolk, for brushing
  • 1 tbsp caraway seeds, whole
  • some herbal salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes

Mix a little lukewarm milk with the yeast. Combine the flour, sugar, herb salt, ground caraway seeds, butter, and egg in a mixing bowl. Add the yeast milk and knead into a smooth dough with the remaining milk. Finally, stir in the roasted onions and parsley. Cover and let rest for 1 hour. Then knead the dough briefly and shape it or pour it into a loaf pan. Brush with egg yolk and sprinkle with caraway seeds and a little herb salt. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Once the temperature is reached, bake the bread on the lowest rack for about 1 hour.
