Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 herring fillets
  • 8 potatoes, boiled
  • 2 large onions
  • 2 tbsp dill, chopped
  • 1 tbsp cheese, grated
  • 3 eggs
  • 300 ml milk
  • salt and pepper
  • Butter, for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Preheat the oven to 225°C. Slice the cooked potatoes and dice the onions. Alternate the potatoes, onions, and herring fillets in a well-buttered, ovenproof dish. Mix the eggs with the milk, salt, pepper, and dill, and pour the egg mixture into the casserole dish. Sprinkle the grated cheese on top. Bake the casserole in the oven for about 25 minutes.
