Homemade Gyros Like Dieter’s
The perfect homemade gyros like dieter’s recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
marinade
- 0,5 tsp Ajvar
- 1 tsp Tomato paste
- 1 piece Finely chopped red onion
- 2 piece Finely chopped garlic cloves
- 1 piece Finely chopped red chilli without seeds
- 1 pinch Coarse sea salt
- 5 tbsp Rapeseed oil
- 0,5 tsp Sweet paprika powder
- 0,5 tsp Hot paprika powder
- 1 tsp Rosemary needles roughly ground in a mortar
- 1 something Black pepper from the mill
- Chop the pork roast (third picture), gyros-style. Add the marinade ingredients and mix everything well.
- Now put everything together in a freezer bag and leave to marinate in the refrigerator for about 24 hours.
- Before preparing, take the gyros out of the refrigerator and let it reach room temperature.
- Then briefly fry the meat all around until crispy (I do this in a wok), stir in the tomato paste and ajvar and let fry briefly.
- Preheat the electric oven to 90 degrees. Put the fried gyros in a baking dish (pre-heated in the oven) and let it simmer for 15 minutes
- Serve with side dishes of your choice. We had boiled potatoes and garlic sauce grandma’s style (see my KB) with it.
