Homemade lemonade

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 g sugar
  • ½ liter of water
  • 3 tbsp lemon(s) – zest, finely grated
  • ¼ liter lemon juice
  • 1 ½ liters of water, additionally

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 15 minutes

In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar and 1/2 liter of water over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved. Do not boil. Wipe any sugar crystals from the sides of the pan with a damp paper towel. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 1 minute. Allow to cool. Combine the lemon zest, lemon juice, and additional water in a large pitcher with the cooled syrup. Let stand for about 2 hours to settle. Then strain and pour into clean bottles as needed. Refrigerate. Dilute with water to taste.
