Homemade red cabbage

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 500 g red cabbage, raw, cut into strips
  • 4 carnations
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 allspice berries
  • 100 ml red wine, dry
  • 1 tsp, heaped vegetable stock powder
  • 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • salt and pepper
  • ½ tsp cinnamon powder
  • Cranberries or orange or apple pieces

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 20 minutes

Bring the shredded red cabbage to a boil with a little water in a pot. After about 1 hour, place the bay leaf, cloves, and allspice in a tea strainer and hang it in the pot. Add the bouillon powder and stir gently. Thirty minutes later, add the red wine and vinegar, season with salt, pepper, and stir in the cinnamon. Taste and simmer for another 20-30 minutes. Season to taste and garnish with cranberries, orange, or apple, if you like.
