Hot chocolate Mallorcan style

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 200 g dark chocolate coating
  • 125 g sugar
  • 500 ml milk
  • 500 ml water
  • 1 tsp cornstarch, heaped
  • possibly chili powder

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

very sweet and almost a dessert – that’s how the Spanish king drinks it in Palma

Gently heat all ingredients, except the cornstarch, while stirring. Mix the cornstarch with a little water or milk, add to the liquid, and bring to a boil briefly. Pour into mugs. Since the chocolate is very rich, I like to pour it into smaller mugs—then the amount is enough for 8 people. Not an original, but good: grind some chili powder over it. If you don’t like it too sweet, you can reduce the sugar.
