Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 pack of pizza dough
  • 8 Vienna sausages
  • 3 slices of Edam cheese or Maasdam
  • 2 tbsp mustard, medium hot
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 75 g fried onions
  • 1 small egg(s)
  • n. B. gherkin(s), sliced

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

super easy and delicious

Spread out the pizza dough and roll it out to the size of a baking sheet. Place 4 sausages in the center at the bottom edge and the remaining 4 sausages on top. Then spread the sausages thickly with mustard and ketchup and top with the cheese. The next layer is made up of as many or as few slices of gherkins as you like. The final layer is a layer of crispy fried onions. Cut the excess pizza dough diagonally on both sides at equal distances to form strips of dough. Fold the strips of dough alternately over the filling to create the braided look. Don’t forget to close the ends. Before putting it in the oven, brush the dough with the beaten egg and sprinkle on some fried onions. Now, off to the oven and bake for 20 minutes at 190°C (fan oven). Cut the braid into thick slices and enjoy!
