Hot Dog with Homemade Fried Onions and Homemade Sauce

The perfect hot dog with homemade fried onions and homemade sauce recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

Hot dogs

  • 8 Sausages
  • 8 Hot dog bun
  • 8 Discs Sliced cheese

roasted onions

  • 1 kg Onions
  • Flour
  • Oil for frying

Hot dog sauce

  • 6 tbsp Tomato ketchup
  • 4 tbsp Mayonnaise
  • 3 tbsp Mustard
  • 2 tsp Honey
  • 1 pinch Sugar brown
  • 0,5 tbsp Vinegar
  • Chilli from the mill, sweet paprika, hot rose paprika

The fried onions

  1. Peel the onions, cut into rings and turn in flour.
  1. Bake in hot oil.

Hot dog sauce

  1. Mix all the ingredients for the sauce together well.

The hot dogs

  1. Let the sausages soak in hot, not boiling water for a good 15 minutes. Meanwhile, cut the rolls open but don’t cut them and heat them up with steam (took a baking dish, filled it with enough water and placed it on the stove. Then put a wire rack and the hot dog rolls on top). This type of preparation has the advantage that the rolls do not become too hard.
  1. Take the hot dog rolls off the stove after about 10 minutes, add a slice of cheese and a sausage and then briefly put them in the preheated oven.
  1. Now just brush with the sauce and fried onions and you’re done 🙂 The hot dog can of course be topped with other ingredients, e.g. pickled cucumbers, sauerkraut, etc. Superkochhasi wishes you a good appetite 🙂
