Save money on boiling water
There are different ways to boil water. The power consumption, the associated costs, and the required preparation time vary accordingly.
- The electric stove consumes the most electricity. If you have an electric stove, it is much more economical to heat your water in a kettle.
- The only exception to this rule is if you want to use the water for cooking afterwards. In this case, it saves money to boil the water right away in the saucepan on the stove. Especially when you need larger amounts of water, such as to prepare spaghetti.
- Apart from that, the water in the kettle boils much faster than on the stove.
- In contrast to the electric stove, the induction plate can keep up well with the kettle in terms of speed. Induction plates also consume significantly less electricity than electric plates. In terms of power consumption, the induction cooker and the kettle are somewhat the same. However, an induction cooker is relatively expensive to buy.
- Boiling water on a gas stove takes just a little longer than in a kettle and is usually cheaper.
- Conclusion: In terms of speed, the kettle basically outperforms the boiling of water in the saucepan. Only if you need more than about 1.7 liters of water is it better to use the saucepan right away. The electric stove has high power consumption and the induction stove is expensive to buy. Therefore, the kettle is the cheapest option in both cases. Only the gas stove is cheaper than the kettle if you use a kettle and the right flame size.
The kettle – you should pay attention to that
- Buy a quality kettle with temperature control.
- Make sure you descale the kettle in good time. Otherwise, boiling the water takes much longer, and the power consumption increases.
- Do not boil more water than you actually need.
