Almost anyone can cook pasta. Still, there are some secret tricks on how to cook the noodles better and faster. In this home article, we present the most popular tips and tricks. So your next meal will be a success without any problems.
Tip 1: Cook the pasta in the right pot
- You should always cook pasta in a suitable pot. So make sure the pot is big enough.
- It should also be able to contain enough water for the amount of pasta.
- The rule of thumb is: that 100 grams of pasta require one liter of water.
Tip 2: Cook noodles faster with the water trick
In order to cook the noodles faster, you should use the water trick. This saves time, nerves, and above all energy. That’s how it’s done:
- Pour enough water into the pot to slightly cover the bottom. Then let it boil.
- At the same time, fill a kettle with the required amount of water and heat it up.
- Finally, pour the boiling water into the pot. Shortly thereafter you can already add the noodles.
Tip 3: Dose the salt for the pasta correctly
Many hobby cooks add salt directly to the water. You should refrain from doing this as it can damage the pot.
- Therefore, first, add the salt to the boiling water. So it can be distributed directly.
- The rule of thumb here is One level tablespoon of salt per 100 grams of pasta.
Tip 4: Stir the noodles regularly
- If you don’t want the pasta to stick to the bottom of the pot, you need to stir the pasta regularly.
- You should do this at least every three to five minutes. This keeps the noodles loose and not sticking together.
Tip 5: Taste the noodles while cooking
Although the package directions detail how long the noodles will take, don’t rely on them alone.
- You should therefore try the noodles after the specified cooking time at the latest.
- It can happen that the noodles are not cooked yet. In this case, let the pasta cook for at least another minute or two.
- You can also vary this according to your taste: Depending on the food, you can serve the pasta al dente or make it a little softer.
Tip 6: Don’t scare the pasta
As a general rule, don’t be put off. If you do this, the sauce will not stick to the pasta as well and they will get cold faster.
- Instead, pour the noodles through a sieve and avoid rinsing the noodles with cold water again.
- Better to put the pasta back in the pot right away or serve it directly on the plates.
