You can prepare spelled deliciously and tasty in many different ways. We have summarized tips and different variants of Urkorn for you in this article.
Preparing spelled – tips and hints
You can buy spelled in different forms and prepare it in different ways.
- Spelled flakes or the Schroth of the grain are very suitable as an ingredient for healthy muesli.
- Both spelled substances also taste delicious as a baking ingredient, for example in home-baked, delicious spelled biscuits without sugar.
- When baking, you can generally replace wheat flour with spelled flour. A dough becomes really fluffy with spelled flour since the grain contains a lot of gluten protein.
- Whole grains are good for cooking. Spelled is then not only a delicious side dish for meals. You can also mix cooked spells into a salad or use them to refine soups.
- However, preparing the whole grain requires a bit of prep work. Before you can cook spelled, you need to soak it in water for a few hours.
- Spelled is a very versatile grain. We will show you a recipe on how you can easily prepare the ancient grain yourself.
Recipe for a healthy spelled soup
You can prepare a healthy spelled soup without great cooking skills.
- First, soak 100 grams of spelled grains in enough water. The grains must be well covered with water and soaked in the refrigerator for about ten hours.
- Then rinse the spell thoroughly in a sieve before adding it to the pot. Then add at least 200 ml of fresh water. Don’t take the soaking water.
- Let the spelled grains cook for about half an hour, stirring occasionally. Then add two diced carrots, two finely chopped onions, and one crushed clove of garlic.
- A finely chopped celeriac and two leeks cut into pieces are also added to the soup.
- Let the soup cook until the vegetables are soft. Before serving, add a tablespoon of good olive oil and season the soup with salt and pepper.
- Tip: If you like a slightly sour taste in the soup, add a few drops of wine vinegar. As with lentil or pea soup, your soup will have its own delicious taste.
