Ingredients for 3 servings:
- 1 onion(s)
- 1 clove(s) garlic, diced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- ¼ liter of milk
- ⅛ liter cream
- 175 g cheese (Gouda), grated
- 300 g pasta (macaroni)
- 50 g cheese (Pecorino)
- 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
- salt and pepper
- Nutmeg, grated
Instructions
Working time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes
Dice the onions and sauté them with the garlic and butter until translucent. Sprinkle the flour over the onions and sauté, then deglaze with the milk and cream and simmer over low heat for about 2-3 minutes. Add the Gouda cheese to the sauce and let it melt. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Cook the macaroni until al dente and place in a baking dish. Add the sauce and mix well. Next, grate the pecorino cheese and mix with the breadcrumbs. Pour the mixture over the macaroni and cheese mixture. Bake this delicious dish in a preheated oven at 180°C to 200°C for about 25-30 minutes. The pecorino and breadcrumb mixture should turn a golden yellow. A quick and delicious variation of this “national American dish.”
