How Do You Make Icing? Easily Explained

Spread the love

The frosting is a popular decoration for baked goods such as cakes or muffins. It’s quick to make and easy to decorate with.

This is how you make the icing

  • The basic recipe for icing is very simple: Place 250 grams of powdered sugar in a bowl and stir in 3 to 4 tablespoons of water with a whisk until smooth.
  • You can vary the taste of this basic recipe as you wish. If you use lemon juice instead of water, the frosting will have a sour taste.
  • You can also use filter coffee or fruit juices to give the frosting a specific flavor.
  • If you want it to be a little high percentage, add some rum or red wine.
  • In terms of color, you are not tied to the snow-white of the usual icing either. We explain how to color icing in a separate home tip.
  • If you want the frosting to be firm and a little frothy, do not use any liquid at all. Take protein instead. For this, however, you need the whisk of the hand mixer and a tall container, such as you would use for making beaten egg whites.
