Pumpkin seeds: How many a day are healthy and useful?
Nuts, kernels and seeds are generally valuable suppliers of various nutrients – including pumpkin seeds. Among other things, they contain zinc, vitamin E, unsaturated fatty acids, beta-carotene and omega-3 fatty acids, which is why daily consumption of the seeds is worthwhile and recommended. In this way you absorb important nutrients and thus promote the protective function of your immune system. When eating, keep the following tips in mind:
- Eat the pumpkin seeds raw or dried.
- You can also simply dry the seeds in the oven yourself, for example if you are using a pumpkin and have the seeds left over.
- It is recommended to consume about two to three tablespoons of pumpkin seeds daily . This is the best way to benefit from the valuable nutrients.
- Stick to this quantity, for example, because too many pumpkin seeds quickly add up to the calorie count. Like all types of nuts and kernels, the kernels contain a lot of fat and should therefore not be eaten in large quantities.
- Make sure the kernels don’t smell musty. If they do, this can be an indication of a fungal infestation and they should then no longer be eaten.
- Eat the kernels simply as a snack between meals or sprinkle a tablespoon over your salad, for example. They are also suitable as an edible soup decoration or in homemade bread, pesto or similar.
