Hungarian Cucumber Salad

The perfect hungarian cucumber salad recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 1 Cucumber
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 0,5 Garlic cloves pressed
  • 1 Shallots chopped
  • 20 ml White wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Cucumber water
  • 4 tsp Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Rapeseed oil
  1. Finely slice the cucumber unpeeled, mix with the salt and let the water soak for half an hour. Collect the cucumber water. Mix the garlic and shallot (missing in the ingredients photo) with the cucumber slices.
  2. Use some cucumber water for the dressing to dilute the vinegar, add sweet and sour sugar to taste, mix in the oil. Mix the dressing with the cucumber slices and let the salad steep.
  3. Fill into portion bowls. If you like, you can now add a dollop of sour cream on top. Sprinkle the served salad in the middle with sweet paprika powder.
