Hungarian-style minced meat skewers

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • ½ kg minced beef (from the rump)
  • 1 onion(s), grated
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 tsp sweet paprika powder
  • 1 tsp marjoram, dried
  • 1 tsp caraway powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 150 g sour cream

Instructions

Working time approx. 40 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Grill skewers

You will need 8 bamboo skewers, each 25 cm long and soaked. Place the meat, onion, garlic, paprika, marjoram, caraway, pepper, and salt in a food processor. Process with the cutting blade until well combined. Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions. Using wet hands, shape each skewer into a sausage shape approximately 20 cm long. Grill as directed below. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Serve hot with sour cream. Grilling: 1) Outdoors – Grill over charcoal at medium heat for 8-10 minutes until nicely browned but still juicy and slightly pink on the inside, turning every 2 minutes. 2) Indoors – Preheat oven broiler. Grill for 8-10 minutes until nicely browned but still juicy and slightly pink on the inside, turning every 2 minutes. Plan ahead: Prepare meat skewers up to 1 day before grilling. Cover with cling film and refrigerate. Serve with grilled garlic potato slices.
