Hunter’s Toast – My Way
The perfect hunter’s toast – my way recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 4 disc Toast
- 4 piece Minute steaks – ideally game, but lamb and beef are also possible
- 150 g Brown mushrooms or wild mushrooms
- 4 disc Chester
- 4 tsp Wild cranberries
- Salt, pepper, ground allspice grains
- Lightly toast the toast slices in the toaster. Quarter or eighth of the mushrooms and roast them in a pan without fat until most of the water has evaporated. Season with a little salt and remove from the heat. Preheat grill, alternatively oven top heat 200 degrees.
- Fry the steaks in a pan with a little fat “in-rum-out”, season with salt, pepper and ground allspice. Place a steak on each slice of bread, spread the mushrooms over it and a slice of cheese on top. Baked in the oven or under the grill for about 5 to 8 minutes (otherwise the steaks will turn into “shoe soles”). Spread on plates and garnish with a teaspoon of cranberries each.
- Serve with a small raw vegetable salad and a dark beer or red wine.
- If thicker steaks are used, fry and bake accordingly longer.
