Hunter's white cabbage spaetzle

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 250 g spaetzle
  • 300 g white cabbage (white cabbage), cut into fine strips,
  • 120 g bacon, sliced ​​or diced
  • 1 medium-sized onion(s), finely diced
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 2 tbsp vegetable broth or water
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds, whole
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • salt and pepper

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Prepare the spaetzle according to the package instructions. In a large pan, lightly brown the sugar and butter in hot oil, add the onion, and fry briefly. Deglaze with the vinegar and vegetable stock, then add the cabbage. Sprinkle in the caraway seeds and a little salt, cover, and sauté over low heat until al dente. Season the cabbage with pepper and soy sauce to taste and stir in the strained spaetzle. Now stir in the bacon, heat briefly, and serve immediately on warmed plates.
