Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 175 g wheat flour
  • 175 g flour (wholemeal)
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 285 ml buttermilk
  • 300 ml natural yogurt
  • some flour, for sprinkling

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Preheat oven to 200°C, gas mark 3-4. Combine the plain and wholemeal flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl and whisk to combine. Make a well in the center and add the buttermilk. Mix well with a wooden spoon and knead the dough on a floured board for about 5 minutes until smooth. Shape the dough into a ball and place it on a floured baking sheet. Score a cross in the center of the dough with a knife. Dust the dough with flour and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom. Cool on a wire rack before serving.
