It Turns Into Harmful Mud: 3 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Drink Yesterday’s Tea

Tea, green or black, with flavors or fruits, has long been a fixture in every home. It is appreciated for its tonic qualities, delicate taste, and wonderful aroma. Usually, the drink is served hot, and there are those who prefer to drink it iced.

But there are also those who like to leave the brewed tea “for later” – they need to be very careful because yesterday’s tea poses a potential threat to the body. There is a saying in Japan: “Yesterday’s tea is worse than a snake bite.”

Glavred will tell you why you shouldn’t drink yesterday’s tea, and what your drink can turn into the next day.

Reason #1. Household dust, various microorganisms, and bacteria can get into a cup of tea. Or rather, they will get there in any case, but if you drink the drink immediately, their concentration in the glass will be low. In brewed tea, left for a day at room temperature, all these bacteria will begin to multiply actively, and very quickly turn it from a pleasant drink into a primary broth. Why is it dangerous for humans? The answer is obvious – such a tea cocktail based on microorganisms will not be to the taste of your stomach and intestines, and can lead to food poisoning with all the unpleasant consequences – nausea, diarrhea, general weakness of the body, etc.

Reason #2. Tea has become popular not only because of its taste – a drink made from fermented tea leaves has a tonic effect and antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The finished drink contains a number of useful vitamins and minerals: vitamins B and K, vitamins P, and C, potassium, calcium, tannins, catechins, etc. However, tea loses them within 2 hours of brewing. Therefore, yesterday’s tea quickly turns from a tonic drink into a breeding ground for bacteria.

Reason #3. In addition to its beneficial properties, tea that is left the next day loses its taste, or vice versa and acquires new and not always pleasant ones. A ready-made drink can absorb the odors in the room in a day, and together with the microorganisms that swim in your cup, this makes yesterday’s tea harmful and completely tasteless.
