Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 300 g flour
  • 100 g butter
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • vanilla sugar
  • e.g. oil for frying
  • powdered sugar

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Deep-fried food from Naples

Make a shortcrust pastry from the first 6 ingredients and refrigerate for about 30 minutes. Then roll out the dough to a thickness of about 5 mm and cut into 10 cm long strips. Heat the oil in a pan or deep fryer and fry the sticks until golden brown. Drain on a paper towel and then dust with powdered sugar. This recipe is a must for us in Naples at Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and Carnival.
