… on the way to pasta land

Carving a tanker truck: First, cut the sausage in half with a straight cut. Then, cut a piece of baguette straight across, approximately as long as the half sausage piece. Then cut the baguette lengthwise like a roll, so that one half of the sausage can be placed comfortably on top. Hollow out the bottom half of the baguette slightly and place one sausage half inside it so that it doesn’t slip. Then cut the second sausage half in half again and continue with the middle piece, cutting both edges. First, cut another piece of baguette the same length as the middle piece of the sausage. As before, cut the bottom lid of the baguette lengthwise, hollow it out, and place the sausage middle piece inside. For example, carve the tanker truck’s cab from the middle piece as follows: First, cut out a wedge above the tanker engine, second, straighten the sides of the cab or cut them straight down, and third, cut the curved roof straight off and secure it with a piece of toothpick to form the hood. Baking the tanker truck: Next, bread the cab. To do this, break the egg into a deep plate, spread the breadcrumbs on a flat plate and carefully coat the driver’s cab first in the egg and then in the breadcrumbs, repeating this process several times if desired. Place the driver’s cab back on the baguette base. Then carefully place the two vehicle sections, including the base, on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Bake for approximately 20 to 30 minutes at 180°C (top and bottom heat), depending on the oven’s power. Optionally, brush the tanker truck with oil during the baking time. Pasta line: While the pasta is baking, cook the pasta in salted water according to the package instructions. Place the milk and passata in a small saucepan and bring to a boil over low heat to make a sauce. Season the sauce to taste with pepper, salt, marjoram, and garlic. To serve: Spread some pasta flat on a large plate (e.g., a pizza plate). Then carefully spread some of the sauce over it and spread it flat. Place the baked tanker truck on the pasta line. For the tanker truck’s wheels, slice the thick end of the carrot. Thread the carrot slices onto a toothpick each and push them through the sausage and baguette separately from each side. If the toothpicks are long enough, or if you’re using shish kebab skewers, you can also attach two opposite carrot slices to a wooden skewer. Halve the olives and place them on the tank as fuel tank nozzles and/or place them as spotlights, securing them with toothpicks.
