Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 2 cup(s) wheat flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 tbsp margarine
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Water

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes
Jamaican cakes
Sift the dry ingredients into a bowl. Add the margarine in small pieces and mix everything together. Mix with water to form a sticky dough. Knead the dough until smooth. Form the dough into balls about 5 cm in diameter. Fill a cast-iron skillet several centimeters deep with oil and heat to 195°C. Fry the balls until golden brown. Dry on paper towels.
