Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 250 g flour
  • ¾ pack of baking powder
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 100 g chocolate, best dark chocolate (at least 60%)
  • 250 g butter, room temperature
  • 4 m.-sized eggs
  • 125 ml red wine, good
  • 200 g sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 250 g powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp lemon juice

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 55 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes

Preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit). Beat the butter, sugar, vanilla sugar, cinnamon, and salt for a few minutes until creamy. Add the eggs one at a time and continue beating until very creamy. Sift the flour, baking powder, and cocoa powder together with the red wine and the egg/butter mixture until a smooth batter forms. Chop the chocolate and mix it into the batter. Grease a loaf pan, pour the batter into it, and bake in the preheated oven on the second-to-last rack from the bottom for about 55 minutes. Let the cake cool, then make a glaze from powdered sugar and lemon juice, spread it on the cake, and enjoy.
