with semi-sweet chocolate and walnuts, makes about 80 pieces
Beat the butter, sugar, vanilla sugar, and eggs until very creamy. This works best with a food processor. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt, sift, and fold in evenly. Stir in the crumbled chocolate and walnuts. Spread the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with baking paper and bake at 200°C (top/bottom) for 20-30 minutes. Check if the mixture is cooked with a wooden skewer. Let the dough cool (on the baking sheet). Melt the chocolate coating (easiest in a plastic container placed in boiling water). Spread the chocolate coating onto the cold dough sheet, then top with 10 nuts horizontally and 8 nuts vertically. Once completely cooled, cut into small rectangles and store in a tightly sealed container. I used to bake these brownies regularly as Christmas cookies in the 1980s. They’re delicious little chocolate bites that can be kept for some time.
