Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 500 g minced meat, mixed (veal and lamb)
  • 1 large onion(s)
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 slice(s) white bread or toast
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 2 tsp cumin, ground
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 pepper, black
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • a few stalks of parsley, flat, finely chopped
  • 2 tsp oil
  • Butter or oil for frying

Turkish meatballs

Place the minced meat in a large bowl and grate the onion and garlic into the mixture (coarsely grate the onion and finely grate the garlic). Soak the white bread in water, squeeze out the excess water, and add it to the minced meat mixture along with the egg, 2 teaspoons of oil, the spices, and the parsley. Knead everything thoroughly and then form into golf-ball-sized balls. Heat butter or oil in a pan and fry the balls until browned on all sides. This makes about 25 kofte, depending on the size. The kofte can also be grilled or baked. Simply serve with salad, rice, and flatbread, or place it on a party buffet.
