Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 600 g meat (lamb, poultry, beef – pork is not typical for the country)
  • 2 cups of natural yogurt, Turkish or Greek
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 small bunch of mixed herbs (thyme, parsley, oregano, dill), chopped
  • 2 packs of toast (toasties, 6 pieces per pack)
  • 3 tomatoes
  • 1 cucumber(s)
  • 1 pack mixed salad with red and white cabbage (refrigerated section)
  • 2 onions
  • some olive oil
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

As a party snack – ideal for the European Championship or World Cup – party with Turkish participation

Cut the meat into very thin strips. Marinate in olive oil with two finely chopped garlic cloves and half of the chopped herbs. Mix the natural yogurt with the remaining garlic and herbs, then season with salt and pepper. Toast the toasties according to the instructions and slice them. Meanwhile, trim or peel the onions, cucumber, and tomato and slice them. Brown the meat well. Meanwhile, spread the yogurt sauce on both halves of the toasties. First, arrange the meat on the toasties, then top with the tomatoes, cucumber, onions, and lettuce. Fold and serve.
