Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 g butter
  • 500 g margarine
  • 1 lemon(s), the juice
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 300 g almonds, chopped
  • n. B. Flour
  • n. B. Powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes

Great Greek pastries when you’re in a hurry…

Roast the almonds without adding any fat. Place a glass of lemon juice in a bowl. Pour the baking soda into the glass. Be careful, it will start to foam and run over the rim of the glass. When it stops, pour the liquid into the bowl, then add all the other ingredients and knead with your hands until you have a smooth dough. Add enough flour so that the dough no longer sticks to your hands. Let the dough rest for a while, then form into balls, flatten slightly, and bake at 180°C for about 25-30 minutes until light brown (do not overbake, or they may become hard). While still warm, toss in powdered sugar.
