Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 2 g cans of sauerkraut
  • 4 pieces of Bockwurst
  • Broth, as needed
  • Herbs, e.g. marjoram, thyme, parsley
  • butter
  • possibly cheese, grated

Peel the potatoes and slice them very thinly using a slicer. Layer them in a casserole dish, alternating with the drained sauerkraut and the sliced ​​sausages. Place butter flakes between the layers. Pour the broth over the layered casserole and sprinkle with the herbs. Bake at 220°C for one hour. If you like, you can sprinkle some cheese on top about five minutes before removing the casserole from the oven. This recipe is from my grandmother, who usually made all her recipes “by hand.” Therefore, the ingredients are quite variable. For example, if you like meat, simply add two more sausages, and you can never have too much sauerkraut.
