Creamed spinach with roux

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 package creamed spinach, frozen
  • 1 tbsp, leveled butter
  • 1 tbsp, leveled flour
  • Milk
  • Salt
  • nutmeg

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

Before preparing the spinach, you need to make the roux. Melt the butter in a saucepan, add the flour, and immediately stir with a whisk until lightly browned. Then gradually add enough milk until a thick sauce forms. Stir continuously with a whisk to avoid lumps. Add the thawed creamed spinach, simmer briefly, and season with salt and nutmeg.
