Lentil soup with smoked pork

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 ½ liters of water
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp Thyme, dried, shredded
  • 3 tbsp broth powder (clear delicacy broth)
  • 250 g lentils, dried
  • 600 g smoked pork, also with bone
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 1 bunch of soup vegetables
  • e.g. salt and pepper
  • 2 tbsp red wine
  • 1 tbsp vinegar

Instructions

Working time approx. 40 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 5 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 45 minutes

Bring 1.5 liters of water to a boil with bay leaves and thyme. Stir in the broth, add the lentils and smoked pork, and simmer over low heat for about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, peel and dice the onion. Clean, wash, and strip the soup vegetables. Add the onion and vegetables to the lentils and simmer for another 30 minutes. Remove the smoked pork, remove the meat from the bone, and dice it. Season the soup with salt, pepper, red wine, and vinegar. Return the meat cubes to the soup, stir briefly, and serve.
