Leo's grilled mushroom skewers

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g mushrooms, brown, small, preferably of the same size
  • 2 large onions
  • 1 bowl of soy sauce (Ketjap Manis), sweet

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

The perfect side dish for grilled steak!

Clean the mushrooms and remove any dirt. Quarter the onions from the stem to the tip, separating the individual layers to create flat layers. Thread the mushrooms and onion slices alternately onto metal skewers. Place the skewers in a baking dish or on a piece of aluminum foil and brush liberally with the Ketjap Manis sauce. Let it soak in for about 10 minutes. Grill the skewers, turning frequently, until the onions have browned. Variation: Instead of the mushrooms, you can also use shiitake mushrooms; they are even more flavorful. Tip: Double skewers or flat metal skewers (approx. 0.5-0.8 mm wide) are particularly suitable as skewers. If these are not available, you can also use wooden skewers; they must be soaked in water for about 10 minutes beforehand. I use two wooden skewers as one skewer, which are inserted through the onions and mushrooms at half a centimeter intervals. This makes it easier to turn the skewers on the grill.
