Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 3 cl brown rum, ideally 8 years or older
  • 3 cl white rum, at least 3 years old (e.g. Havana Club)
  • 1 cl Triple Sec
  • 1 cl Amaretto
  • 1 cl almond syrup
  • 1 cl sugar syrup (diluted 2:1 with water)
  • 2 cl lime juice
  • 3 cl orange juice
  • 2 cl pineapple juice
  • 1 handful of crushed ice
  • 1 cocktail cherry(s) or garnish cherry
  • 1 pineapple slice(s)

Instructions

Working time approx. 3 minutes; Total time approx. 3 minutes

the perfect and classic Mai Tai cocktail

Combine all liquid ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously. Strain the contents into a tumbler and fill with crushed ice. Garnish with a cocktail cherry and a pineapple slice. Tips: For more sweetness or an almond flavor, add 1 cl of sugar syrup (diluted 2:1 with water) or more almond syrup or amaretto. If you prefer a stronger drink, simply add 1 cl more brown and/or white rum. Serve with a metal straw (approx. 15 cm long and 8 mm thick).
