It’s getting warm – and time for cool drinks. How about an iced coffee? All you need is cold coffee and a few additional ingredients. Here are four recipes for homemade iced coffee.
To make iced coffee yourself, you only need a few ingredients and a little bit of time. As a rule, you just have to wait for the cooling time.
The classic iced coffee consists of coffee, vanilla ice cream, milk, and cream.
We show the recipe and three other ideas: with coffee or vanilla ice cubes and a recipe for the famous caramel iced coffee.
Iced coffee recipe: The classic
You need these ingredients for a glass of homemade iced coffee:
200 ml of strong coffee or a double espresso
Vanilla ice cream (about 2 to 3 scoops)
a dash of milk
cream
optional: sugar, cocoa, ice cubes
Classic iced coffee: the preparation
Brew espresso or strong coffee.
Let the coffee cool down.
Meanwhile, whip the cream and fill it into a piping bag.
Put the vanilla ice cream, a dash of milk and optionally some ice cubes in a tall glass and fill it up with the cold coffee.
Gently squirt the cream into the glass in a circular motion.
If you like, you can dust the cream with some cocoa powder.
Tip: If you want to sweeten your coffee with sugar, you should stir in the sugar while the coffee is still warm. However, this step is optional.
Make your own iced coffee from coffee ice cubes
You need these ingredients for one glass:
200 ml of cooled coffee or a double espresso
150 ml milk or plant drink (e.g. oat drink, almond drink)
ice cube tray
Iced coffee from coffee ice cubes: the preparation
Prepare your coffee or espresso as usual and let it cool down.
Fill the ice cube mold with the coffee and put it in the freezer overnight.
Put the ice cubes in a tall glass and fill it up with milk.
Tip: You can also add the coffee ice cubes to the classic iced coffee. This cools the coffee even more and doubles the coffee enjoyment.
Make your own iced coffee with vanilla ice cubes
You need these ingredients for one glass:
200 ml of cooled coffee
150 ml milk or plant drink
1 vanilla bean
sugar to taste
ice cube tray
cream for decoration
Iced coffee with vanilla ice cubes: the preparation
Scoop out the vanilla pod and mix the contents with the sugar and milk.
Pour the mixture into the ice cube tray and then place in the freezer overnight.
Put the ice cubes in a glass and pour the coffee over them.
If you wish, you can decorate the iced coffee with whipped cream.
Caramel iced coffee: The special kind of iced coffee
You need these ingredients for one glass:
200 ml cold coffee
150 g ice cubes or crushed ice
50 ml milk or plant drink
1.5 tbsp caramel sauce for the iced coffee + 1 tbsp for the topping
100 ml cream
possibly high-speed mixer
Caramel Iced Coffee: The Preparation
If using ice cubes, place the cold espresso, ice cubes, milk and 1.5 tbsp caramel sauce in the high speed blender until the ice is completely crushed and a thick mass forms.
Alternatively: If you use crushed ice, you can mix the ingredients without a mixer.
Whip the cream and place in a piping bag.
Pour the caramel iced coffee into a tall glass. Then decorate the iced coffee with whipped cream and 1 tablespoon of caramel sauce.
Tip: If you put the glass in the freezer beforehand, your caramel iced coffee will be particularly refreshing.
Coffee drinkers produce tons of coffee grounds. Although it is unproblematic organic waste, it is still a shame to throw it away! So you can reuse your coffee grounds sensibly – in the kitchen, in the garden, and in the bathroom.
