Make Margarine Yourself – That’s How It Works

Make margarine yourself: you need it

  • pot, bowl and hand mixer,
  • 50 grams of a vegetable fat (e.g. coconut fat),
  • ice cubes,
  • 8 tablespoons canola oil,
  • 1 egg or yolk,
  • a pinch of salt,
  • a dash of lemon juice,
  • Chives or other herbs to refine as desired.

Make margarine yourself: Here’s how to do it

  1. First, put 50 grams of loose vegetable fat in a saucepan and heat on medium so that the fat melts.
  2. Once the fat has liquified, place the pot in a bowl filled with ice cubes.
  3. Then add about 8 tablespoons of canola oil. Then separate the egg white from the yolk and add the yolk to the pot.
  4. With a hand mixer, you must now mix this mixture thoroughly. Now add a little dash of milk to the mixture. Alternatively, you can also use yogurt.
  5. Then mix the mixture again with the mixer.
  6. Finally, add a pinch of salt and some lemon juice.
  7. You can then use the margarine directly or refine it further with chives, for example.
  8. Note: Store the margarine in the refrigerator afterward.
