Nougat is easy to make at home with just a few ingredients. In this article, you will find out what you need for the recipe, how best to proceed, and what you can use the nougat for afterward.
Make nougat yourself – Here’s how
For the recipe, you need 150 grams of unshelled hazelnuts, 150 grams of icing sugar, 200 grams of couverture (dark), and 100 grams of softened butter.
- First, put the hazelnuts in a pan and lightly toast them. This takes about eight to ten minutes.
- You can then remove the nuts from the pan and set them aside to cool.
- Then use a food processor to finely grind the hazelnuts. The process should be repeated until the hazelnuts release oil.
- Now add powdered sugar to the nuts and mix well together.
- Then cut the couverture into smaller portions and melt them either in the microwave or in a water bath.
- Once the chocolate has melted, you can add the butter. Stir well so that the two ingredients blend together.
- Then pour the nut and icing sugar mixture into a large bowl and carefully stir in the chocolate mixture.
- When everything has been mixed well, the nougat is ready. It is best to put it in a sealable jar and put it in the fridge because it will keep for about five to six weeks.
