Mango salad with red onion

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 small mango(s), for large mangos 2 are enough
  • 1 lemon(s)
  • 2 tbsp oil, neutral (rapeseed oil or sunflower oil)
  • 2 tsp, heaped sugar
  • 1 onion(s), red
  • 1 pinch of chili pepper(s), fresh or dried
  • 1 some black pepper, finely ground
  • 1 some salt (preferably natural salt)

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes

Peel the mangoes and cut the flesh off the flat core with a knife. Dice or slice. If the mangoes are still firm and not quite ripe, you can also use a cucumber slicer. Place the fruit pieces in a bowl. Peel the red onion and thinly slice it. Add it to the bowl. Squeeze the lemon and add the juice to the bowl along with the remaining ingredients. Stir briefly and season to taste. Let the salad rest for a while before serving so the flavors can meld.
