Ingredients for 20 servings:

  • 300 g flour
  • 1 pinch(s) of baking powder
  • 50 g walnuts, finely chopped
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 150 g powdered sugar
  • 100 g maple syrup
  • 200 g butter or margarine
  • 200 g walnuts, halved (for garnishing)

Instructions

Working time approx. 1 hour; Rest time approx. 8 hours; Total time approx. 9 hours

Mix the flour with the baking powder, add the remaining ingredients, and knead everything into a firm dough. Wrap in foil and let rest in the refrigerator overnight. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of 0.5 cm, then cut out small hearts, rosettes, or whatever you like. Place the cookies on baking sheets lined with baking paper. Garnish each with a walnut half. Chill briefly, if desired. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (top/bottom heat) or 160°C (fan oven) for 12-15 minutes. This dough yields approximately 110-130 cookies.
