Marble Cakes

The perfect marble cakes recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 250 g Soft butter or margarine
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 250 g Sugar, or a little less if you don’t want it too sweet
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 packet Baking powder
  • 500 g Flour
  • Milk
  • 3 tbsp Baking cocoa
  • 2 tbsp Milk
  • For the forms:
  • Butter or margarine
  • Breadcrumbs
  • To pollinate:
  • Powdered sugar
  • Chocolate icing dark
  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees (convection 160 degrees) and grease a mini cake tin and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
  2. Mix butter or margarine with sugar and salt until frothy. Gradually add the eggs and beat everything until creamy. Mix the flour with the baking powder and stir in a spoonful. Now add enough milk until the dough is difficult to tear.
  3. Cut the dough in half and distribute the light dough on the molds and smooth out a little. Mix the other half of the dough with 2 tablespoons of milk and the baking cocoa and spread over the light dough. Now fold in a spiral with a fork.
  4. Bake the cake for 35 to 45 minutes. Don’t forget the stick test. If the cakes are not done yet, bake for a few more minutes.
  5. Let the finished cakes stand in the mold for 10-15 minutes and only then take them out.
  6. Let cool down. Now cover with powdered sugar or a chocolate icing.
  7. You can also bake the cake in an ordinary Guglhupf pan. The baking time is about 70 minutes 🙂
