Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 points fish (herring fillet)
  • 2 cloves
  • 10 grains of allspice
  • 10 juniper berries
  • 1 large bay leaf
  • 2 jars of capers
  • 3 large onions
  • 1 jar of pickles
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 liter of milk
  • 1 pack of coffee creamer
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 pinch of salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 3 hours; Total time approx. 3 hours 30 minutes

Chop the herring into small pieces and place it in a large bowl. Add the cloves, allspice berries, juniper berries, bay leaf, capers (if you don’t like capers, you can use a jar), sliced ​​onions, and crosswise sliced ​​gherkins. Mix the sauce ingredients well and pour over the fish. Let the herring marinate overnight or for at least 5 hours. Serve with boiled potatoes.
