Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 2 points fish (herring fillet)
- 2 cloves
- 10 grains of allspice
- 10 juniper berries
- 1 large bay leaf
- 2 jars of capers
- 3 large onions
- 1 jar of pickles
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 liter of milk
- 1 pack of coffee creamer
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 pinch of salt
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 3 hours; Total time approx. 3 hours 30 minutes
Chop the herring into small pieces and place it in a large bowl. Add the cloves, allspice berries, juniper berries, bay leaf, capers (if you don’t like capers, you can use a jar), sliced onions, and crosswise sliced gherkins. Mix the sauce ingredients well and pour over the fish. Let the herring marinate overnight or for at least 5 hours. Serve with boiled potatoes.
