Marinated herring

Ingredients for 5 servings:

  • 2 small onions, cut into half rings
  • 1 ½ apples, cut into small cubes
  • 2 dashes lemon juice
  • 6 m.-sized gherkins, in small slices or cubes
  • 1 cup of crème fraîche (approx. 125 g) or sour cream
  • 250 g whipped cream
  • 500 ml buttermilk
  • 2 packs of herring fillet(s) herring style
  • e.g. dill, dried
  • n. B. sugar
  • Salt and pepper or Aromat or Fondor

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

in delicious buttermilk sauce

Remove the fish from the package, rinse, and pat dry. Cut into 1.5 cm wide pieces. Combine all other ingredients and season (salt lightly). Add the fish and a little cucumber juice, if desired. Let it marinate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight. This tastes best with boiled potatoes.
