Heat 250 ml of milk. Crumble the yeast and dissolve it in the flour. Knead with 500 g of flour, 75 g of sugar, 100 g of butter, and the egg. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes until smooth. Drain the cherries, reserving the juice. Mix the sauce powder, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 5 tablespoons of juice until smooth. Bring the remaining juice and 125 ml of water to a boil. Stir in the sauce powder and simmer for about 1 minute. Fold in the cherries. Cut the marzipan into 24 pieces. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface, shape it into a roll, and cut into 24 pieces. Shape each piece into a ball, placing a piece of marzipan in the center. Place in a greased springform pan. Let rise for about 20 minutes. Heat 125 ml of milk, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 50 g butter. Pour over the Buchteln. Bake in a preheated oven (electric oven: 200°C / fan oven: 175°C / gas mark 3) for about 35 minutes. Serve with cherries. Vanilla or chocolate sauce goes well with it.
