Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 400 g herring fillet(s), fresh
  • 4 m.-sized tomatoes
  • 4 m.-large shallot(s)
  • e.g. basil, chopped
  • n. B. Sea salt and pepper, mixed, from the mill

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Dry the herring fillets, finely dice them, and place them in a bowl. Peel and finely dice the shallots. Wash the tomatoes, halve them, remove the stems, and finely dice them. Add everything to the bowl with the herring. Season with basil, pepper, and salt, and let stand for at least 15 minutes. Tip: If you buy herring marinated in oil, discard all of the oil and soak the herring in water for about 10 minutes. The water will draw out some of the salt from the herring, reducing the saltiness of the salad.
